Sport at Brooklyn School
Brooklyn School helps develop students confidence through allowing them many opportunities to get involved in sport. This not only develops skills and knowledge but integrity and resilience as well as having loads of fun!
Classroom Physical Education programmes develop skills and knowledge across a wide range of sporting codes. A number of outside organisations also come into school to develop interest and further skills, such as, Small Sticks Hockey and Wellington Cricket. This year has seen all syndicates participate in eight sports sessions at the ASB Centre in Kilbirnie, where trained coaches take Turbo Touch, Badminton, Gymnastics, Handball, Floorball, Ultimate Frisbee and more.
During the school year our tamariki will participate in the following sports to gain entry into the Central Zone competitions which is open to students from Years 4-8.
Term 1 Term 2 Term 3 *Athletics *Cross Country *Swimming
*Students who gain top placings will advance to Inter Zone and then Regional Competitions.
A highlight for the senior students in years 7/8 is their Wadestown and Carterton School Exchanges (Tri Tournament) which are held every year.
