Sport at Brooklyn School
Brooklyn School develops confidence in students by encouraging them to participate in sport. This also promotes good sportsmanship, honesty and responsibility.
During the school year students will participate in the following sports to gain entry into the Central Zone competitions which is open to students from Years 4-8.
Term One: *Athletics (Full school)
Term Two: *Cross Country (Years 3-8)
Term Three: *Swimming (Years 4-8)
Other Central Zone competitions throughout the year are; soccer, netball and winter games.
*Students who gain top placings will advance to Inter Zone and then Regional Competitions.
A highlight for the senior students are their Wadestown and Carterton School Exchanges which are held every year in Term Three.
The school is also very proud of their numerous netball teams (Years 4-8) which compete in the Saturday morning Motu-Kairangi competition during Term Two and Three.
We have school basketball teams that play on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the ASB Stadium in Kilbirnie.
Classroom Physical and Education programmes develop skills across a wide range of sports and skills and a number of outside organisations, including Aussie Rules and Golf, visit during the year to develop interest and skills further. We also hold lunchtime scooter and bike days for the students which seems to be super popular.
