21 May 2012 We are pleased to announce the appointment of Liz Rhodes as permanent Principal. The appointment process concluded with final interviews held on Saturday with the Board parent representatives, senior teacher representative (Felicity Bothamly) and independent Educational leadership advisor (Murray Cameron from Education Futures Ltd). The appointment process attracted a number of candidates with varying levels of experience in educational leadership. While the unsuccessful candidates showed evidence of the attributes required to lead and manage our School, none were at the same high level as demonstrated by Liz during her time as acting Principal. We are confident Liz has the skills, ability and personal qualities that will enable Brooklyn School to continue to develop, improve and reflect the high educational expectations of our school community. We would like to thank those in the community who gave feedback either informally or via the on-line survey as well as our teaching staff who were committed to informing the board of their views and criteria required in appointing a Principal. These views and feedback helped form the key criteria used to judge the candidates and also provided a number of other anecdotal observations that inform on the school community’s expectation of our school. We will be developing further opportunities for the school community to provide feedback on a wider variety of topics through online, written and face-to-face interactions as the year progresses. If you have any questions or comments about any of the issues raised, please feel free to contact any of us direct via the school office. Our next meeting is scheduled for 7.00 pm Tues 12June, in the staff room. Mark Perry; Chairperson, Board of Trustees Clare Ward Mike Russell Mary-Ann Butterfield Heather Walker Felicity Bothamly |
